D. DWIGHT WORDEN, Of Counsel
Public Agency and Land Use Law
Mr. Worden graduated cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1974, and was a founding partner of the law firm in 1975. Over the years he has specialized in government, land use, and environmental matters. Along with other firm members, he has represented a number of cities and special districts as general counsel. Mr. Worden is currently "Of Counsel" to the firm. In this status he remains exclusively affiliated with the firm and available to work on a limited number of special projects.
Mr. Worden has served as a mediator and judge pro tem for the Superior Court and as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He has taught land use and environmental law at local law schools, and has lectured extensively on land use, environmental, and government law topics for a variety of organizations including the Trial Lawyers Association, California Continuing Education of the Bar, and the League of California Cities. Mr. Worden has also been active in a number of community and civic organizations, such as Sierra Club, Solana Beach Town Council, Los Penasquitos Lagoon Foundation, San Diego Coast Regional Commission, and San Dieguito Citizens Planning Group, among others. He served as a member of the California Coastal Commission, the Attorney's General Environmental Task Force, and the Solana Beach Elementary School Board, and currently serves on the Surfrider Foundation Advisory Board.
